Vs. DJ SUBATOMIC SUPERNOVA is the battle theme of the Disc Jockey DJ Subatomic Supernova. The original mix uses the Electro-funk and Cosmic Disco genres with EDM and Spacemusic elements mixed together.

The EDM version will be similar but more inclined to the House style, also featuring background vocals used to make the remix, something that doesn't appear in the normal version but is typical of the House genre.

Like the rest of the Vs. songs, this one also has a Rock variation, where the EDM sounds are replaced with Zuke's drums and Mayday's guitar.

Music In Battle[]

In the gameplay of the fight, if DJ Subatomic Supernova has low life points in that phase, the version of the music will change from the normal version to the rock variation, swapping different elements every time until is completely replaced. This only happens from the second phase onward, representing how Mayday and Zuke are beating the genre EDM of the artist with their rock style.

First Phase[]

In the intro, before starting the battle, the music will start playing when DJSS exclaims "I am DJ Subatomic Supernova!" to Bunk Bed Junction, starting from the beginning of the soundtrack 0:00 until he finishes making a fool of the duo and prepares for the fight, which leads to the 0:15 minute on the soundtrack.

Once the battle truly begins, the music will repeat from minute 0:15 to minute 1:17 until the player passes to the next phase. The attacks of DJSS will follow the music, so the disco balls will move every two verse lines in the normal mode and at the end of every line during the hardest modes of this part.

Second Phase[]

Just when the mixer has been destroyed in the first phase, the minute 1:17 will begin to play until 1:32 during the cutscene where DJSS transforms the battlefield into a space-themed stage, until where he becomes a giant form of himself. From there and throughout the second phase, the minute 1:32 - 2:33 will sound.

The same thing will happen with the planets as to what happened with the disco balls in the previous phase, but now with the addition of several shocking waves that will rotate the planets and the appearance of meteorites that will attack the protagonists, especially in the 2:03 - 2:33 part. Unless if the player is in the most difficult modes, in which the shock waves occur every four lines of verse in the beginning of 1:32 too.

Third Phase[]

After cracking DJ Subatomic Supernova's helmet, the music will start to play a piece of the Rock version of it, from 2:33 to 2:41 until Mayday responds to DJSS. Just when she comments "Just surrender, DJ Broken Record!" The rock version will move to minute 2:49 until 3:11 during the cinematic where DJSS reveals a miniature world that he uses to transform.

Once DJSS has gained the upper hand again with his new arms and Zuke comments "or maaaaybe not", his original music will begin to play once again from the slice 3:20 - 4:36 during all the phase, which will play similar to the last one.

At minute 3:35 is when the barrier of fire will appear to go through the stage, and from minute 4:06 - 4:36 DJSS will transport Mayday and Zuke to a platform where they will have to dodge the planets that are thrown at them. This sequence of the music in 3:20 - 4:36 will be repeated until the next and last level.

Fourth Phase[]

As the final blow is delivered, a small portion of the 4:36 - 4:44 rock version will play until DJSS's helmet is completely broken.

When the black hole inside him is released, the next phase will follow the rhythm of the last segment from 4:44 to the end of the normal version, where the player will have to parry or dodge the planets just as the song clicks.

Trivia[]

  • The normal and rock version of the music are used in the trailer for the game.
  • Although the original version doesn't have lyrics, the EDM version uses repeatedly various background lyrics sung by a male character during some parts of the song, presumably DJ Subatomic Supernova.
    • In most of the music, these words are used without meaning as just sounds for the remix, but there is a part where they can be heard completely from minute 4:06 to minute 4:36 (In battle, they sound in the part where DJSS throws 4 planets to Bunk Bed Junction above a platform).
    • The lyrics heard are the following: "Whatcha waitin' for?", "Whatcha think we came here for?" and "I wanna see you dancin', movin', groovin' like your pants is off".
      • The last part may be a reference to how DJ Subatomic Supernova is wearing shorts, which makes many players think that he's actually not wearing any pants.
  • The base version contains excerpts of Flight Thrills from "Sonic BeATS", also made by Funk Fiction.
